Building a Mentorship Program

In this program I will walk through the process of designing and implementing a formalized mentorship program that is tailored for your agency. We will talk about the goals and benefits of the program, and how to generate buy-in. We will talk about training the mentors, pairing them with mentees, and keeping the program sustainable over time.
Gina Savoie is a Trial Division Director for the Missouri State Public Defender. In that role, she oversees public defender trial offices across the state. She has also designed and implemented a formal mentorship program for all new attorneys in MSPD. She previously served as the District Defender in the Jefferson County Public Defender’s office, and as an assistant public defender in the St. Louis City trial office.
Prior to joining MSPD, Gina clerked for Httornon. Judge Catherine Perry in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. Gina holds a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law, an M.F.A. in Stage Management from the University of Iowa, and a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Rutgers University. She and her husband Sean live in St. Louis County where they are raising three wild and beautiful girls.
