Requirements
Knowledge of: North Carolina criminal law and procedure, federal constitutional law, North Carolina common law and constitutional law, and North Carolina statutes.  Ability to: analyze facts, identify relevant law, and apply it to the facts; conduct thorough legal research efficiently; plan and execute an effective appellate litigation strategy; manage and meet deadlines; express complex legal concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner; communicate clearly and effectively; accept advice and learn from assigned mentors; work with colleagues in a cooperative and collaborative manner; and treat clients with diverse life experiences and backgrounds with dignity and respect. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements A law degree from an ABA accredited law school and a license to practice law in North Carolina are required. Employer seeks applicants with experience as a judicial law clerk, assistant public defender, or attorney in private practice representing clients in criminal cases. The starting salary range for this position is $54,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.  Equal opportunity employer.
