The Missouri State Public Defender System is accepting applications for an Assistant Public Defender in the Columbia Appellate Office. Attorney will represent indigent clients in all three Courts of Appeals and in the Missouri Supreme Court on direct appeals from misdemeanor and felony convictions, appeals from juvenile adjudications, appeals from the denial of postconviction relief, and occasionally petitions for extraordinary relief in those courts.

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Missouri Bar or eligible for bar licensure in Missouri.

Salary/Benefits: Starting salary is $60,000. After one year, an APD is eligible for salary increase to $65,000. Eligible for full state benefits including health, life, and long-term disability insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, CLE training, and payment of bar dues.
