Typical duties may include:
- Provide court-appointed indigent defense services in Chippewa County.
- Reviews charging instruments, police reports, and other discovery provided by the Prosecution and meet with clients to explain the process and review the documents with them.
- Will handle felony and misdemeanor cases from arraignment through the trial and/or plea and sentencing.
- Determine what legal issues need development, research those issues, and present them in the appropriate forum.
- Negotiates with the Prosecution and promptly advises the client of the status of those negations.
- Litigates and legal issues that are necessary and appropriate, including bringing cases to trial, handling probation violations, and regularly assigned duties at first appearance.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legible case files.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
