• The National Association for Public Defense (NAPD), extends our deepest gratitude for Jeff Sherr’s 12 years of dedicated service as the NAPD Training Director. His unwavering commitment and countless hours of hard work have been instrumental in building NAPD into the esteemed organization it is today.

    As a founding member of NAPD, his vision and leadership have left an indelible mark on our community. Thanks to his incredible efforts, last year alone, NAPD was able to train over 5,500 public defenders, a testament to the impact of his work.

    His work as the Training Director has been nothing short of transformative. He produced hundreds of webinars, providing invaluable resources and training to public defense professionals across the nation. His previous experience as the Manager of the Education and Strategic Planning Branch of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, and his journey from a law clerk in 1994 to various pivotal roles, have all contributed to his exceptional ability to lead and educate.

    His extensive involvement as a faculty member for prestigious institutions such as Gideon’s Promise, the National Criminal Defense College, Clarence Darrow Death Penalty College, Harvard Trial Advocacy Workshop, Bronx Defender Academy, and other state litigation institutes, have enriched the public defense community immensely. His dedication to training public defender litigators, trainers, and leaders nationally and for individual defender states and offices has been unparalleled.

    Beyond his professional accomplishments, his passion for theatre and improv has brought a unique and creative perspective to his work. His studies with the National Shakespeare Conservatory and the University of Kansas, along with his regular performances with Central Kentucky Improv in Lexington, Kentucky, and at Improv Festivals across the country, have undoubtedly contributed to his dynamic approach to training and leadership.

    Jeff, we look forward to continuing our partnership in your new role managing online learning and talent development.
