In a blog post dated May 5, 2014, I referred to the criminal justice system as a "voracious, drooling monster." This was an error. The word "drooling" connotes a sense of innocent passivity, like a drooling baby, or someone napping with their mouth open.  In light of the grand jury decisions in the Eric Garner and Michael Brown cases, a public correction is in order. The criminal justice system is actually a voracious, vicious, racist, power-and-privilege-protecting, wealth coddling, nasty, cruel, snarling, barbaric, cold-blooded  monster.

I regret any confusion caused by my earlier description of this beast.
