The Montgomery County Public Defender Office (Pennsylvania) is excited to announce that we are now a Gideon’s Promise partner office. We join this incredible organization in their commitment to addressing what co-founder Jonathan Rapping has poignantly described as one of the most significant civil and human rights issue of our time- the criminal justice system.

Founded in 2007, Gideon’s Promise works to build a new generation of public defenders, training, mentoring, and equipping them with the tools and resources necessary to be zealous, effective, and compassionate advocates.  As a partner office, not only do our attorneys become part of this fantastic community of committed public defenders but they will also get the opportunity to attend Gideon Promise’s comprehensive and impactful new attorney and leadership trainings.

We are thrilled about sending our first attorney, Daniel Theveny, to this summer’s Core 101 program. Core 101 is a three-year training program that provides public defenders with the skills and knowledge necessary to become excellent advocates for their clients. “I’m incredibly excited to see the Montgomery County Public Defenders become a Gideon’s Promise partner office, and honored to be our first attorney to benefit from the training and community that the Core 101 program has to offer. We can’t wait to learn from and apply their resources in our efforts to give voice to our clients inside and outside the courtroom,” Daniel said.
