Scott Levy and Alice Fontier
Scott Levy is currently Chief Policy Counsel at FWD.us, a bipartisan organization committed to ending
mass incarceration and transforming the immigration system, where he works on criminal justice and
immigration policy reform efforts at the state and national level. Prior to FWD.us, Scott worked as an
attorney at the Bronx Defenders, a holistic public defender office in the South Bronx, where he built
and managed the office’s public policy practice. Scott graduated from Princeton in 2002 and received
his J.D.2007 from Harvard Law School, where he was the Special Projects Editor for the Harvard Civil
Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. He clerked for the Honorable Nancy Gertner in the Federal District
Court of Massachusetts before joining The Bronx Defenders
Alice Fontier has been a practicing criminal defense attorney for over twenty years. She has been a
Project Managing Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of New York; Managing Director of the
Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem; and the Managing Director of the Criminal
Defense Practice at the Bronx Defenders. She has previously worked at the Federal Defenders
of San Diego, and as a private attorney in federal and state courts in New York. Alice has been
President of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Parliamentarian
of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She regularly teaches trial skills for
these associations and at Columbia Law, as well as teaching the Police Misconduct Externship
at NYU Law. She graduated from NYU Law.
