Sarah Buchanan is the Director of Social Services at the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. Currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she worked in community mental health before joining the CLO staff as a Forensic Social Worker. Ms. Buchanan is a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Tennessee College of Social Work. Research interests include social work practice within public defense systems/models and the impact of proactive and support-oriented social work intervention on recidivism and life outcomes.
