Rita Flórez is an attorney at the Missouri State Public Defender in St. Louis County. Before going to law school, Rita worked as a newspaper reporter and freelance writer in Georgia and Missouri. Rita’s interest in immigration consequences for immigrant clients and language access to non-native English speakers was sparked by her first job out of school as a staff writer for El Informador, a Spanish language weekly in Northwest Georgia. Rita is a University of Missouri School of Law graduate and has been a public defender for a year and a half.
