Requirements
 
  • Experience managing a team and strong commitment to team-building and positive and inclusive organizational culture, including commitment to working collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage one’s own work as well as the work of others and to assure completion of assignments and projects
  • Demonstrable track record of strategic development of long-term plans with realistic objectives
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent legal reasoning skills
  • Five years or more of demonstrated commitment to public defense, social and racial justice, and equity, including experience in all aspects of criminal post-conviction representation strongly preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant New York State and federal law including evidence laws, criminal and constitutional laws, statutory interpretation, and ethical principles contained in the Rules of Professional Conduct strongly preferred
  • Admission to practice in New York State or ability to waive into New York State from another jurisdiction strongly preferred
